Manifesto

A manifesto to co-create systems that allow
people to thrive.

I use a systemic, collaborative, and place-based approach to help people, communities and organisations address complex social challenges. Originally trained as an architect, over the last ten years I have been co-creating places, spaces and experiences with pioneering organisations including Snook, Future of London, Office of Displaced Designers, Project00 and Make: Good.

An architectural designer, community connector, researcher and urban anthropologist. I investigate urban conditions through an ethnographic approach that explores people's relationship to place. This site is a portfolio of my experience on engagement led and research projects.

Practicing in the built environment, I am interested in working in a range of multi disciplinary contexts: in architectural design, neighbourhood development, social innovation and community resilience. As an engagement specialist I uncover ‘community assets’ (local knowledge, strengths, skills, networks) - I believe it is important to create opportunities for residents to become active participants in the engagement process around urban change and knowledge sharing in our cities.

I am passionate about place-making and empowering people to build stronger and more resilient communities. Though talking to people I draw out engaging narratives, and local knowledge to strengthen contextual analysis - building and empowering community relationships.

Currently a member with collaborative studio 00 (2014-present) working on civic initiatives and an Associate with social enterprise Social Life (20014 -) I curate projects and collaborate with people. I have worked with a diverse range of urban and social practitioners including: Gort Scott ArchitectsWe Made ThatMendmake:goodThe Building Exploratory, 815 Agency, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Public WorksArchitectural Research Unit and muf architecture/art.
